Suspected explosive devices have been found at 119 Woodbury Lane in Canton's River Green subdivision, and a juvenile is in custody, authorities with the Canton Police Department said today.
"There were several devices that appear to be pipe bombs inside the residence," assistant police chief Todd Vande Zande said.
Just before 1 p.m., a juvenile in a red T-shirt was placed in the back of a Canton Police squad car, and a couple drove off in a white truck.
The home, according to the Cherokee County Tax Assessor's Office, belongs to Brian K. Howell and Sandra M. Howell.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are assisting. A GBI van is parked outside the home, and a beige van is parked in the driveway.
The Canton Fire Department is in a staging area off Woodbury Road.
"We got here around 8:30, 9 o'clock," Canton Fire Chief Dean Floyd said.
While officials said "the necessary safety precautions are being taken," Floyd said he didn't know if evacuations had occurred.

Damn internet strikes again. Odds are good this was a kid trying out a "recipe" he found online, but watch, as the media turns him into the next Dylan Klebold. Parents - GET WISE! Pay attention to what your kids are doing online!!!

No one yet has asked the question ' Was he ever in any kind of trouble when he was with his real father?' have they? I know what my kids are into and what they are doing and as a father it is your job to know so Patricia I'm going to have to say you are wrong. Being a parent is a 24/7 job and yes they should be held accountable just bas much as the child. I've known the boy for longer than any one here that is commenting and in fact was there the day he was born. An ignorant and corrupt system took him from his father that was by his own admission down on his luck but headed back up. No abuse or neglect was ever given to him by his father but yet because of his financial status he was taken and placed in a home where he is supplied with materials and allowed to create devices capable of killing. People of River Green………you have Bartow county and Cherokee county DFACS to thank for your bomb scare because it would have never happened had he been where he belongs, with his FATHER! Great parenting skills!
