Snowcation Will Cost Cherokee Students, Faculty
No weeklong February break? That's the plan.
1. Unless the state decides otherwise, Cherokee County School District students can kiss most of a weeklong February break goodbye. The same goes for two previously scheduled furlough days in March. Blame it on the winter storm that has paralyzed metro Atlanta and forced districts such as Cherokee to remain closed all week. Spokeswoman Carrie Budd said students will makeup the missed days Feb. 22-25 and March 17-18.
2. Twelve-month school district employees must report to work at 10 a.m. today.
3. Because garbage collection was suspended in Canton this week, residents can drop off household trash from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Saturday and next Tuesday at 2525 Ridge Rd.
4. How would you grade Cherokee County's response to the winter storm? Were officials prepared? Did they keep you informed? That's the topic of this week's Barbershop-Beautyshop Buzz. Canton-Sixes Patch videographer Zachary Toth stopped by a Sixes Road salon to take the pulse of the community. Look for his report later today.
5. At 10 a.m., Canton-Sixes Patch contributor Julie Paulk will help you plan the week ahead with her weekly Event Planner guide. Return at 6 p.m. for her Job of the Day.
