Severe Weather Headed to Cherokee County

A storm front that is expected to bring lightning and strong winds will soon be upon Canton and the Cherokee County area.

 

The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Cherokee County.

The watch, which will expire at 9 p.m. Tuesday, mentions the possibility of severe weather, including thunderstorms and high winds.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office expects the period of severe weather to last from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Strong thunderstorms could bring down trees or cause other damage to property.

As of this moment, there is no indication that any of these storms are capable of creating tornadoes.
