School Boundary Meetings Scheduled

The first meeting will take place Sept. 24 in the Etowah High auditorium.

The Cherokee County School District has announced the schedule for a series of meetings to discuss redrawn boundaries for the 2013-14 school year.

"Meetings will be held at schools where the feeder pattern and grade configuration will be affected by the opening of the new/replacement E.T. Booth ... in August 2013, as well as at Ball Ground to survey the community about its future grade configuration," district spokeswoman Barbara Jacoby said.

At least one meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of each affected school. The meeting at Etowah High will be held in that school's auditorium.

"A second meeting only will be held if the participants at the first meeting are in consensus that another is needed," Jacoby said. "The School Board will hold a public input session on all proposed changes from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 1, with the final recommendations presented for consideration at the Dec. 1 School Board meeting at 7 p.m."
