Morning Briefing: Remembering Jorelys

Here's what's going on in Canton this Tuesday.

1. Weather: Bring your umbrella with you to work today, as the National Weather Service expects showers in Canton until noon. Today's high will be 55 degrees, with a low tonight of 35 degrees.

2. In Case You Missed It: The prominent Main Street bookstore Yawn's Books & More is closing in December. Although the store on Main Street is disappearing, Yawn's publishing efforts will be housed in a new facility soon.

3. Happening Now: Do you love being the envy of the neighborhood with your holiday decorations? Show us your holiday spirit by entering Patch's Deck the House Contest and you could win $100,000 for your local school district!

4. Looking Ahead: We're coming up on the one year anniversary of the Jorelys Rivera tragedy. At 8 a.m., you will be able to read about an event going on this weekend that will commemorate her life and memory.

5. On This Date in History: On Nov. 27, 1978, San Francisco Supervisor Dan White shot and killed Mayor George Moscone and openly gay fellow supervisor Harvey Milk. White was able to avoid a murder conviction by using the now-infamous "Twinkie Defense," but committed suicide shortly after his release from prison.
