Cherokee Bank and Roach, Caudill & Gunn support the Service League of Cherokee County's Run for Children 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run set to take place on March 23.Their contribution of $500 each will go to the Cherokee County school with the most participants. 1. Weather: Expect sunny skies in Canton today, says the National Weather Service. The high temperature today will be around 54 degrees, with a low tonight of roughly 36 degrees.

On This Date in History: On March 14, 1757, British Admiral John Byng was executed by firing squad for "failing to do his utmost" to prevent the French from capturing the British-held island of Minorca the previous May. Although there was widespread public support for Byng, who was seen as a scapegoat, King George II refused to pardon the admiral and his death sentence was carried out on the HMS Monarch.
