Man Killed in Single-Vehicle Accident

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Updated 7:10 p.m. Monday

The man killed in a single-vehicle accident in Canton has been identified as Jeffrey Kyle Stanley, 26, of Gainesville.

Original Report 4:40 p.m. Monday

An unidentified 27-year-old man died this afternoon after a single-vehicle accident on East Main Street.

The man was driving a blue Mazda 3 Hatchback shortly after 3 p.m. today when the vehicle "crossed over the median, flipped several times and landed on its side in the yard of a Canton resident," said Tim Cavender, spokesman for the Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services.

He was ejected from the vehicle.

Earlier this afternoon, Sgt. Stacy Bailey, spokeswoman for the Canton Police Department, said the man had been taken to Northside Hospital-Cherokee.

But Cavender said he never made it—at least not for treatment. A helicopter was called to transport the man, who had a faint pulse, to the hospital. But emergency personnel canceled the helicopter when the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Canton Police Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

Has it been reports whether or not this gentleman was wearing a seatbelt or not? I'm assuming he was not, since he was ejected from the vehicle, but I was just curious..
