Find Your Polling Place For Fire Bond Referendum
Voting will take place on Tuesday, March 19 to determine whether or not the city issues up to $6 million in bonds to improve city fire services.
After months of debate, argument, vitriol, and controversy on both sides of the fire bond referendum issue, the matter will finally go before the voters on Tuesday.
This referendum will be different from other city-wide referendums for more reasons than the intense amount of rhetoric generated by those supporting and opposing the measure, which would see the city spend up to $6 million in bond money to build three new city fire stations.
Unlike previous city referendums, voters on Tuesday will not be directed to City Hall en masse to cast their ballots on the issue. According to Mayor Gene Hobgood, people wishing to vote on the fire bond referendum should report to the polling place they reported to in November when they voted in the presidential election.
If you are a new voter or do not know what polling place you should report to Tuesday, you can contact Cherokee County Elections & Voter Registration at 770-479-0407. Alternately, you may use the Georgia Secretary of State's "My Voter Page" to determine your voting precinct and polling place.
Canton-Sixes Patch will be giving updates on the vote count as Tuesday's results come in.

Tomorrow is a very important day for the residents of the City of Canton. If you live in the city, GET OUT AND VOTE! The Cherokee Tribune reports that less than 500 people participated in the early voting process. There are almost 13,000 registered voters in this City. Don't let a minority decide all for the majority. Oh, and please JUST VOTE NO! Many blogs and articles have been posted about why this is not the best option. Please check them out here on the Patch!
