Target to Host Saturday Reading Event

1. At 6 tonight, head to the Cherokee Arts Center for an evening of song and testimony. Gospel Fest II, a free Black History Month celebration, will feature a mass choir, praise teams, dancers and more.
2. Representatives from the city's engineering and development department will be available March 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. to answer questions about Waleska Street improvements that are scheduled to begin this spring. The informational will be held on the third floor of City Hall.
3. A witness noticed a masked man sitting in a parking lot near two banks at the intersection of Sixes Road and Bells Ferry roads on Thursday, called 911 and ultimately foiled a Canton man's plans to rob a bank at gunpoint.
4. A week after Sonya Little announced her re-election bid, fellow RepublicanKenny Phelps on Wednesday announced his plans to seek the Cherokee County Tax Commissioner's seat.
5. The Canton Marketplace SuperTarget will host a free in-store reading event in celebration of the National Education Association’s Read Across America program on Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. According to a news release, "each event will include a reading nook inspired by Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax,” a reusable Target bag filled with activities for children, readings by Target team members and more."
