I-575 Hit-and-Run Suspect Arrested

The suspect in this morning's hit-and-run accident on Interstate 575 has been arrested, the spokeswoman for the Woodstock Police Department said this afternoon.
Kenneth Gonzalez, 53, of Canton was captured at 1:50 p.m. in Cobb County, just four hours after a gray 2006 GMC Sierra struck a construction worker and fled the scene, spokeswoman Brittany Duncan said.
The unidentified construction worker is being treated at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, where he is listed in critical condition.

Duncan said she was not releasing any other information about him at this time.
Gonzalez is in custody at the Cobb County Jail on a charge of driving under the influence, she said.
"Woodstock Police Investigators will secure warrants for his arrest with pending charges related to the hit and run," Duncan said.
Today wasn't the first time that Gonzalez was arrested on alcohol-related charges. According to the Canton-Sixes Patch archives, he was arrested on April 24 and charged with following too closely, open container of alcohol in vehicle and driving under the influence.

The worker is a son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend. Devoted to all he loves and is cherished by all who loves and knows him! What a selfish, careless loser! He should be in the one in the hospital!!! There needs to be more outrage about those driving under the influence! How many more innocent people have to be hurt and killed before our society sees this action as INEXCUSABLE!!!!

To the Family,
Thank God he is alive. You have my support. I hope he gets better. I also hope he gets all the compensation and financial help he deserves. I guess the loser that hit him didn't learn much from his last arrest! I think he should lose his license for good and go to jail for the max that the law allows. Also, they should impound the vehicle and sell it for charity.
Family , focus now on his recovery. My positive thoughts go out to you all, and to him. May his recovery be quick and complete.
