Couple in Fatal Crash Identified

Rick Dean Headen and Charlotte Ann Sedtal were "just passing through" from Sour Lake, TX. Their 2-month-old son remains in a Sandy Springs hospital with a traumatic brain injury.

The couple killed in  on Knox Bridge Highway has been identified.

Lt. Jay Baker, spokesman for the , said the driver of the gold Ford Focus was Rick Dean Headen, 48, of Sour Lake, TX. His passenger was Charlotte Ann Sedtal, 40, also of Sour Lake.

"They were the parents of the 2-month-old in the rear of the vehicle that sustained a broken leg and brain injury," Baker said.

The baby, who has not been identified, remains at , which is in Sandy Springs.

"A family member from out of state is currently on their way to Georgia," Baker said. "When the baby is released from the hospital, that family member will have temporary custody."

Headen, Sedtal and their baby boy were "apparently just passing through, on their way to another state," when the Ford Focus, which was headed eastbound, crossed the center line and struck a red Dodge pickup truck that was headed westbound.

Headen and Sedtal died at the scene.

"Currently investigators with the Cherokee Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit are attempting to determine what caused the driver of the Focus to cross the center line," Baker said.

The driver and the passenger in the red Dodge truck were also injured. Both women were transported to  in Marietta, the driver with possible fractures to her lower extremities and the passenger with neck and back pain.
