Boling Park Exercise Equipment Cleared for Completion

The Army Corps of Engineers has given approval to complete the project.

The replacement exercise equipment at Boling Park's walking track was given final approval by the Army Corps of Engineers on Tuesday.

The Corps had asked the city to stop construction of the equipment temporarily while it reviewed the construction plan. The Corps of Engineers owns the site of the exercise equipment, and was not consulted initially when the new equipment was bought and construction begun.

“It was not a significant event. It was just an oversight,” Corps spokesman Pat Robbins said to the Cherokee Tribune

Canton Parks and Recreation Director David Cangemi told Canton-Sixes Patch last month that once the Boling Park equipment was finished, he hoped to complete a similar project at Heritage Park.

The metal equipment at Boling Park will replace the current wooden exercise equipment. Runners or walkers can use the equipment to loosen up before a run or cool down after their exercise is completed.

It is expected that the equipment will be operational within a few weeks.
