After the Storm and MLK Holiday, Students Head Back to School
The county commissioners will meet tonight.
1. There's an 80 percent chance of occasional rain, mainly after 7 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will edge toward 47 degrees.
2. Cherokee students will do something they haven't done since Jan. 7: Go to school. Schools were closed all last week after the snow and ice made roads impassable. Monday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a national holiday.
3. Today is the last day Canton residents can stop by 2525 Ridge Road to dump household trash that accumulated during the winter storm. City officials extended the offer to residents after last week's snowfall forced them to cancel garbage collection. Drop your garbage off from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
4. The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners will meet at 6 p.m. Among other items, the commissioners will consider the adoption of the 2011 budget
5. The Cherokee Chamber of Commerce will hold its January Business After Hours gathering at 4:30 p.m. at The Lodge at BridgeMill, 10451 Bells Ferry Road.
