Four young men from Canton were arrested last week on various charges in connection with the molestation of a child.

According to a Canton Police Department incident report from May 27, deputies from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office alerted local authorities of a possible child molestation that occurred at the Hampton Inn hotel on Transit Avenue.

The report, which is redacted, is scant on details. The age of the victim is not listed.

Arrested in connection with the molestation:

• Demetri Odell Maddox, 17, of Canton, who is charged with child molestation, sexual battery and enticing child for indecent purposes. He is being held in the Cherokee County Detention Center without bond.
• David L. Jackson, 18, of Canton, who is charged with possession, sales, furnishing alcohol under 21. He was released on a $675 bond.
• Jean-Baptiste G. Huguens, 22, of Canton, who is charged with possession, sales, furnishing alcohol under 21, and contributing to delinquency of a minor. He was released on a $1,355 bond.
• An unidentified 16-year-old boy from Canton, who is charged with possession, sales, furnishing alcohol under 21. Authorities will not release his photo or name because he is a juvenile.
