Northside to Develop Major Medical Campus in Towne Lake
Northside Hospital-Cherokee is proud to announce a major strategic partnership with Duke Realty to construct a new 4-story, 100,000 square-foot, Class A Medical Office Building (MOB). The MOB will be constructed on the former site of the Madison Pointe commercial/residential development at the corner of I-575 and Towne Lake Parkway in Woodstock, GA. Northside purchased the 8-acre tract of land on May 25, 2012. The building will be built and managed by Duke Realty, but will be called the Northside-Cherokee/Towne Lake Medical Campus.
"We are excited about this project and the increased access it will provide the community to the high-quality health care services and facilities they have come to expect from Northside," said Billy Hayes, CEO of Northside Hospital-Cherokee. "This new campus is sure to be a valuable health care asset to the citizens of the south Cherokee (Towne Lake and Woodstock) areas."
Demolition of the previous structures on the property have been completed to make way for the new MOB and surface and parking deck spaces totaling 509. In order to help protect the environment, up to 75 percent of the materials generated by the demolition were hauled off to be recycled. Additionally, the architect will seek to obtain LEED certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Green Building Certification Ins titute as an environmentally-friendly facility.
The medical campus will offer a variety of outpatient medical services and a wide array of physician practices, representing numerous medical specialties.
"Duke Realty appreciates the opportunity to work with Northside Hospital to develop this new, modern medical office building," said Deeni Taylor, Duke Realty Executive Vice President for Healthcare. "By blending our development expertise with Northside's leadership in healthcare, we will soon be offering area residents a more convenient, accessible facility for superior medical care."
Woodstock’s total population is projected to increase by 14.7 percent from 2011 to 2016 and total hous eholds are expected to increase by 15.6 percent during the same time frame. Additionally, Woodstock’s total population represents approximately 44 percent of Cherokee County’s total population. Obviously, this expected growth will require increased access to local health care services for this community.
An official groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the site later this month. The construction of the new MOB will commence immediately. The new medical campus is expected to be completed and open for business as early as August 2013.
The medical campus is located approximately four miles south of Northside’s Holly Springs Medical Campus and is approximately 11 miles south of the future home of the Northside Hospital-Cherokee replacement campus.
"We look forward to offering additional health care services throughout Cherokee and the surrounding communities," added Billy Hayes. "With the long-anticipated replacement hospital soon to be under construction and two comprehensive outpatient medical campuses in this area, patients will have even greater access to Northside’s high-quality medical services."
