Hooters of Canton to Host C.A.R.E. Bike Ride to Support Local Hooters Girl Battling Cancer
On January 26th the Hooters of Canton will host
the C.A.R.E. (Cancer Awareness Ride and Event) Bike Ride to help assist Cassandra Clark, a 22 year old Canton Hooters Girl, who recently was diagnosed with breast cancer. The event will begin at 7 PM at the Hooters of Canton located at 100 River Pointe Pkwy, until 10 PM.
The store will also be hosting a silent auction and will be raffling hundreds of dollars in prizes.
“Cassandra is a shining star and one of our best employees. It is tragic that she has to go through this battle anytime during her life, especially at such a young
age,” stated Patrick Kelly, Hooters of Canton General Manager. “We stand behind her 110% and will support
her in any way we can. We hope that the C.A.R.E. event will help relieve some of the financial burdens she is facing, so she can focus on getting better.”
Bikers Battling Cancer, Inc and Steelhorse Law have joined in this effort to make the event a success.
Hooters will also match the funds raised, up to $2,000, which will help Cassandra pay for some of the medical expenses she has incurred from testing and chemotherapy.
Every year, for the past 6 years, Hooters has partnered with the V Foundation for Cancer Research to raise money for breast cancer research. In 2006 a $2 Million Breast
Cancer Research Grant was established in the name of Kelly Jo Dowd, 1998 Hooters Calendar Cover Girl, Manager, and Cancer Fighting Symbol, who spent the
last years of her life battling breast cancer. A huge piece of this effort is to raise awareness about early detection,
and a DVD with Kelly Jo’s story is sent to every Hooters location to help educate the Hooters Girls and employees about the importance of breast cancer awareness. Hooters met the $2 Million mark in 2010 and continues to raise money for the cause annually.
