Georgia Conservatives in Action Deny Endorsing Brian Laurens for State House
Cherokee voters in House District 21 may have received a flyer in the mail that suggests that Georgia Conservatives in Action supports or endorses Brian Laurens in Tuesday's election.
Not so, the leaders of the organization told Jim Galloway at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. According to Galloway,
“Laurens [is] portrayed in stellar fashion.
Except that Godwin and Tippett say it ain’t so. They say the flyer is bogus.
Godwin and Tippett want a retraction before Tuesday’s vote. But, gosh, who should issue one?”
Mike Hassinger, writing at Peach Pundit, suggests the culprit is clear:
“[Brian] Laurens has attempted to deceive voters in the 21st House district into believing that he has been endorsed by Georgia Conservatives in Action,” writes Hassinger.
GaPundit.com, which first noted the political direct mail piece, wrote:
“It’s pretty clear to me that Republican political consultant turned candidate for State House District 21 Brian Laurens is trying to imply with this mailpiece that Georgia Conservatives in Action has endorsed his candidacy. Would Brian Laurens lie to win a campaign?”
Will Cherokee County voters reject this kind of dishonest campaign tactics? We'll find out on Tuesday.
