John Carter has been selected by his peers as Creekland Middle School’s Teacher of the Year. Each Cherokee County School District school chooses an honoree, who then is eligible for the Cherokee County Teacher of the Year honor. Creekland MS Principal Dr. Deborah Wiseman presented Carter with his gift from the school, a leather chair: “This is something that can be enjoyed after hours, as our Teachers of the Year are always up teaching during the school day and stay late to take care of the paperwork.” Carter also is the school’s band director and sponsor of its Academic Bowl Team. “John gives numerous hours to our Grizzlies and the Creekland community,” Dr. Wiseman said. “We are so proud of him and know that he will represent both our school and community well as the Teacher of the Year at CMS!” From left to right, Dr. Wiseman, Carter and students, Tori Hicks, Victoria Dempsey, Geoffrey Baker and Grier Quinn.
